“Building a future for you and your child, together.”
Welcome to TEAM, the Teen Education and Mothering Program.
The purpose of the TEAM school is to provide an individualized curriculum combined with a flexible schedule to enable you to achieve academic success as you earn credits towards your Ontario Secondary School Diploma. It is our hope and our intention that, together, we will work as a “team” to support you as you move on to your future goals; returning to a conventional academic program, post-graduate studies, an apprenticeship program, or entering the world of work. We can do this at TEAM by offering...
*flexible timetables*
*individualized curriculum* a wide range of recognized secondary credits...These credits have the same value as those earned in a traditional classroom setting.*
*one-on-one consultation and monitoring of curriculum expectations*
*a less conventional, distinct learning environment*
*child minding and parenting education with links to the academic curriculum.
Flexible Timetables...
Working together, we can establish a timetable that takes into consideration your academic, parenting and personal needs. This individualized timetable is a step towards ensuring your success in the TEAM program.
Individualized Curriculum...
By taking into consideration your strengths, learning style(s), interests and goals, we can create an academic program that both follows the Ministry of Education curriculum expectations and is relevant to you. In addition, the TEAM program allows for both independent and classroom learning. These elements work together to give you choice and flexibility in your learning process.
One-On-One Consultation and Monitoring...
Because we are not working in a traditional classroom setting more time can be devoted to one-on-one contact with TEAM students. In addition to instructional time and assisting with assignments, the teacher will meet with you on a regular basis allowing the opportunity to recognize your efforts and accomplishments, check on your academic progress, review time lines, and to motivate and encourage you to continue to work towards your goals. This contact allows us to establish and maintain a close and positive working relationship.
A Distinct Learning Environment...
In addition to providing both classroom and parenting learning opportunities, TEAM also provides its students with a sense of ownership and community. Through monthly TEAM Community meetings, the teacher, co-ordinator and students work together to shape the program so that it continues to meet their changing needs and interests. Community volunteers, organizations and guest speakers visit the classroom regularly providing information about the arts, health and nutrition, baby needs, career counselling and planning, life skills, financial planning, and other topics based on the needs and interests of both the students and their babies.
We look forward to working with you and helping you to reach your goals...
